Improving Construction Site Productivity With Mobile Processes

Customer success stories continue to be the anecdotes that people want to hear. People need sound advise and a trustworthy voice to follow, especially during an unprecedented time like the present.

Recently we had the pleasure of hosting a webinar with one of our many process heroes, sharing ways our FlowForma Process Automation tool can improve transparency and productivity across a large construction site.

Lampros Arvanitis, BIM Manager at CVB (joint venture of Costain, VINCI Construction Grands Projects and Bachy Soletanche building the east section of the Thames Tideway Tunnel) kindly took time from his busy schedule to showcase how this project has improved productivity and visibility with mobile processes across a challenging environment.

Project Background

To give some context of the size of the project Lampros and his team are undertaking, the Thames Tideway Tunnel is the biggest infrastructure project ever undertaken by the UK water industry. The tunnel is 25km in length spanning from West London to East London, underneath the entirety of London City centre.

As you can envisage, paperwork across such a vast site can be a real challenge. Furthermore, with information incorrectly completed, delays can easily happen and incur additional costs as a result. Offline access to processes is another challenge faced by construction companies, while working in disparate and remote locations with little or no internet connectivity. The Tideway East Project was no different being so far below ground level.

Now though, construction firms and joint ventures are turning to process automation to eradicate these common bottlenecks and pain points. By digitizing their business processes, Lampros and his colleagues have been empowered to work smarter and more efficiently whilst working remotely during COVID-19 lockdown. As restrictions have lifted, its workforce have been able to pick back up from where they left off with little disruption.
